SUMMER IS HALF WAY THROUGH, LEAVING MANY TO WONDER WHERE IT WENT.  HERE AT THE KITCHEN DRAWER, WE HAVE BEEN ENJOYING THE JOYS OF SUMMER IN THE KITCHEN WITH FRESH PRODUCE FROM THE FARMERS MARKET. OUR SUMMER COOKING CLASSES HAVE FEATURED FARM TO TABLE, SHOWCASING RECIPES THAT UTILIZE THE VERY BEST OF THE LOCAL FARMERS.  MANY OF YOU HAVE REQUESTED SPECIFIC TOPICS FOR UPCOMING CLASSES AND OUR UPDATED SCHEDULE REFLECTS THOSE SUGGESTIONS.  DUE TO THE POPULARITY AND LIMITED SIZE OF THE CLASSES, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT RESERVATIONS ARE NEEDED TO HOLD YOUR SPOT.  ALSO, FOOD WILL BE SERVED AT EACH SESSION TO PARTICIPANTS.  

KITCHEN BASICS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

AUGUST 5TH (TUESDAY) - $20.00  6:00 P.M.

Making delicious, healthy food can be simple, espcially if you know a few tricks.  Watch, listen, participate, sample and learn!  Topics covered include grocery shopping on a budget, pantry staples, kitchen tools, healthy study snacks, a meal to "impress" and more!  LESLIE HARRISON of  It's Fit to Eat, will be instructor for this class.  A 10% discount will be given for class participants for the evening.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES OF THE CHEF

AUGUST 7TH (THURSDAY) - $10.00  6:00 P.M.

All of the little secrets that professional chefs know .... from how to clean your blender, which knife is best for tomatoes, common pantry substitutions, can I freeze it?, what is the difference between cake flour, bread flour, all-purpose flour, and so much more.  CHEF ALYSSA WILHITE will lead the class and prepare a taste of Duck Confit Ravioli in Mushroom Cream Sauce utlizing the tips and techniques discussed.  All participants will receive a 10% discount on any purchases made during the session.

TRY IT NOW ... BREAKFAST ON THE GO

AUGUST 14TH (THURSDAY) - $18.00  6:00 P.M.

The continuing class series, where recipes are prepared and sampled, allowing you to decide if the dish is right for you and your family, will focus on the most improtant meal of the day - breakfast!  With the start of school, hunting season, Friday night football and other activities that signal a change from the lazy days of summer to fall, we will feature recipes such as Crock Pot Steel Cut Oatmeal, Rollup Blender Pancakes, Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins that will get you out the door while avoiding the traffic jam at the fast food drive through.  CHEF ALYSSA will share culinary tips to get you rolling in the morning.

COOK ONCE  - EAT TWICE

AUGUST 26TH (TUESDAY) - $25.00  6:00 P.M.

How to end the Drive Thru Dinner Dilemna - will teach you the secrets to stocking your fridge and freezer with instant meals with the least amount of prep time.  This is a lifesaver for those busy back-to-school evenings.  The menu for this class will include Braised Beef Short Ribs with Roasted Mushrooms and Pearl Onions which becomes Vietnamese Beef Noodle Bowls later in the week.  Additional recipes for the cook once, eat twice concept  that include chicken and salmon will also be provided.
